COVID-19: BC Action Plan

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact the crisis has had on the province, the BC government is providing tax relief. Effective immediately, the tax filing and payment deadlines for the following taxes have been extended to September 30th, 2020:

  • Employer Health Tax
  • Provincial Sales Tax
  • Municipal and regional district tax on short-term accommodation
  • Tobacco tax
  • Motor fuel tax
  • Carbon tax

In addition, school tax rates on business and light and major-industry properties will be reduced by 50% for 2020.

The provincial government has also postponed the increase to the BC carbon tax, the new PST registration requirements on e-commerce and the new PST on sweetened carbonated drinks until after September 30th.
